Who do people use as a web-hosting company? I am looking to help a potential client with a new WordPress blog and website setup and I am looking for recommendations.
I have issues with my current web-hosting service: their apache server is an older version and I cannot do “clean” post addresses.
Any recommendations would help

I use Dreamhost for the bulk of my web projects, though I should say that they’ve been having trouble with one of their central databases lately. It hasn’t affected my site — maybe because of the kind of service I subscribe to from them — but I thought I should let you know that upfront.

I use ipower for three of my four web sites (the other one is hosted at laughing squid, an arts based severer out of the bay area).
I use hostinginsiders.com for my portfolio/professional blog. $3 a month and compatible with wordpress and no advertising.
So they have web based mail access?
I used iPower several years ago, and then they started sucking. I switched to EasyCGI and they were great for a while, but then started sucking. Poor availability, unexplainable errors, etc. I recently switched to GoDaddy, which gets some bad press from some of my colleagues, but I’ve been quite happy so far. Their plans are inexpensive, but versatile, and I haven’t had availability or speed issues yet. Of course it’s only been a few months
